It's hard to say no to Mary McDonnell especially because she even looks like her
but I think we should use brits; like Lauren Socha, she's already rocking the whole chav thing

My vote for Fiona Finch was Shannyn Sossamon but if were sticking to British actors and/or actors that have some similar features to their parallels, There is Alexandra Moen.

Should all of the inspectors be "real" actors or should there be some leeway for TPTB to place some other US actors in?

I honestly think we should only worry about casting additional characters once they're people we need to write. For now having the Inspectors listed and the actors for whatever companions show up in 11's series should be good enough.

The Inspectors must be British but I think the other characters can have some leeway.

I don't think they all have to be real people (especially if they're from the older series) but that's just my opinion.

ETA: Yeah, according to his twitter, he's written a webisode. I think it fairly safe to say he knows something of the fandom.
