That's a good idea. And it's ok if he was in DW too. DW took a lot of actors from IS.

A non-Caucasian Angie does give her an exotic streak, which lends itself to the possible "she's an alien" proposed plot line. Amara also recently showed up in that ripoff...will they ever learn to be a little original?

YES! this is what I was thinking but then I got distracted.

also, in relation to andrew lee pots, I've got a confession coming up that says he auditioned for inspector, so it makes sense that he got cast as companion instead.
+sorry for all the non-canon confessions but some of them have been queued since before there was a lot of the current canon.

I agree.

I'm all for ethnic diversity too though. (But need to be careful not to make it feel too "planned to appeal to every demographic~" . Like a math text book. )

I was thinking Rhapsody/Aidan/someone else who is cool could be non-caucasian. Perhaps Middle Eastern? We could cast him/her with an Iranian/Iraqi/Saudi/someone along those lines actor since the new episodes are meant to be coming out in the present day and politics right now says that Europe and the US is having tension with the middle east. Making a badass character at least vaguely from that area of the world is just the kind of statement this sort of show would make.

I posit that he was going to be in the 1966 Movie version, but that the BBC didn't like his take. Sellers was going to play the Inspector as a bumbling boob. then they reworked it, took out the SF and made the lead character French,
