Ken has an idea here. We could make an acronym of a real name. Like TIM for TIme Machine or MATT for Mechanical Apparatus for Transportation in Time. I don't think legal issues would arise from that, would it?

I honestly love the name DARSIT, and in the scripts I work on, I'll keep it as such.

However, since as you pointed out, it'd be extremely difficult to bring to TV, I will throw my vote behind TIM or MATT. My idea: SMITH. Space Machine In Time Habitance.

There's a lot you could do if you go the "real name" route. It could be fun. I could see characters catching themselves talking to the booth because it has a recognizable name.

Part of me is tickled that we have the acronym be a name. "Get inside MATT, right now!" But then , I just like innuendo...

If I may, I think we should take suggestions, everybody throw ideas into the hat, and then we vote. We can leave it DARSIT, but have to get comfortable that it'll be something else when they name it on TV. We have the chance to come up with that name if we can all agree and get the fans on board with a little retcon.

I get that part, don't worry. I just prefer DARSIT for our own particular scripts, simply because it's a catchy name and a lighthearted reference to the original source that Inspector Spacetime came from. I got you, don't worry. XD

Don't worry I think everyone understands why you couldn't use DARSIT in a TV programme. Who knows, maybe we'll end up liking the new name better once we start using it.

I enjoy both TIM and MATT. I like MATT a bit more as it is a little more creative AND manages to give a nod to Doctor Who.

On another, more serious note, I've been trying to come up with an acronym that links back to IS's policing role, a word that's slang for police or police car, or even phone? I will return with more fleshed out ideas.
