Topic Summary

Thread for sharing thoughts, comments, questions, and images regarding the DARSIT

To start us off--

What in the world does DARSIT stand for?

Dimension and Relative Space in Time, I believe.

Basic info:

It's called the DARSIT: Dimension and Relative Space in Time

The Inspector's grandmother named it that but apparently the other Space Masters also use that term so either she made-up the word for all of them or she lied about naming the DARSIT

On the inside its the same size as an average phonebooth

It travels in time and space (duh)

The inside is the size and shape of a british telephone booth, but thanks to the technology of the Space Masters there is always room for one more. Always.

The Inspector's Grandmother... That would be one way to explain Fe-Line's introduction. That said, The "room for one more" would be given an handwave like an "occupancy chip"

The most recorded people in the DARSIT was 145.

The DARSIT returns change in time and location appropriate currency.

That is an fantastic detail, constable. I like the idea of them pumping the 'return change' lever for money and who knows what else. (Could you imagine them tugging a period-appropriate outfit out of it?)

I can. As well as it going wrong.

"Roman outfit, roman outfit. *pulls on lever, gets a tuxedo and top hat* ...well, I'll be ahead of the game."

After coming back the 2003 mini-series had to address the UK's Big Number Change
The operator number is still 100 no matter the location.
The number for directory enquiries did not change.
The DARSIT has always used 123 for time services, some believe the change in the mid 1990s was inspired by IS.

Sometimes the show lets you hear the voice on the other end of the phone and sometimes it doesn't.

The iconic Operator had traditionally never been seen or heard until a recent episode where the Operator was drawn out of the DARSIT and personified.

And it turned out to be a very surprised Noel Edmonds

(Joke)

I like the idea of the DARSIT having an RNLI sticker on it in some incarnations of IS, similar to how t'other show has a St. John's Ambulance
