The List of Actors and Actresses Who Have Played the Inspector:
(Note: Anyone up to estimating years?)
1. Edward Hartles (aka [we need a real person]) 2. Christopher Lee (non-canonical films and very much canonical radio dramas) 3. Bernard Fox 4. Marius Goring (under false name Tim Chef) 5. Lynda Bellingham 6. [Actor's Name] (The most somber and monochrome of the Inspectors, with the exception of the eighth episode in this Inspector's last year. The extreme colors of the Doctor in the Doctor Who series of this time was seen as a move by the DW producers to distinguish themselves from IS.) 7. Stephen Fry 8. Steve Carrell 9. Mark Williams 10. Christopher Obi (under false name Daniel Landlord) 11. Travis Richey

For Edward hartles I nominate Donald Gray who was an actor in 1950's british show called mark Saber.
Proposed time periods.
1. Edward hartles 1962-63 after his work on "Mark Saber" 2. Christopher Lee 63-66 had the fewest episodes due to his movie career 3. Bernard Fox 66-70 after "man from Uncle" and then left to do Hogan's heroes 4. Marius Goring 70-76 we may need to find a new person. he was on a show from 68 to 76 5. Lynda Bellingham 76-77 between couples and the fuzz 6. 80-82 7.Stephen Fry 85-86 it's a tight fit after happy families to this is david linder 8. Steve Carrell 2003 9. mark williams 2006 10. Christopher Obi 2006-2010 11. Travis Richey 2010-present
this isn't final and could use some cleaning up. suggestions please.
we still need a sixth

although Marius Goring isn't ideal because of the two show thing, it's possible, especially if you take into account how the serials were not as long as modern series so he could work it around his schedule
and stephen fry could even be just a year, it was already failing and the bad writing meant his doctor wasn't on air more than 1 (2?) season

As for Goring I'm not sure who to look to as a replacement.

I didn't think any of them had hearts. Lol, sounds kind of like Vulcans but with more enthusiasm.

So I think something that needs to be cleared up: Is the Inspector a Space Master or an Hour Baron...or are these quasi-interchangeable because they are just 2 conflicting sects of Kayaclaschians...1 believes they should be policing time, the other believing they should be policing space...but the inspector sorta does both?

I like Marius Goring b/c of the many wonderful pictures of him as Percy and the Conductor, both of which would work well with gifs. Also, in response to not needing real actors, having a face helps, I think. Especially when doing descriptions/etc.

in terms of the actors for the Inspector, I believe people were having one of his iterations played by Graham Chapman.
Any chance of putting him in there somewhere?

He can be sixth and then we have a full deck. This would make the Inspector one of the last roles he played, though, wouldn't it?

I mean, I don't think it would be a step down for him.

I think we ended up settling on Space Masters, unless we wanna call it even and start using "Space Barons".

This just in!
For those who haven't seen it yet, the 9th Inspector is a very classy guy with an aversion to leather.
