Link us when he's done with the theme. Is he making it spacey? Whoa, he just sent me a draft. You guys are going to love it!! I'm pushing him to make it less electronic, because I thought that was the consensus, but it's still very sci-fi. In any case, I'll either have it in my vlog on Thursday (before the next episode of "Community") or I'll link to it from there. ~Trav (he is also doing 3 versions, to represent the evolution of the theme song through the decades) ....upstaged..... But seriously, did we just score a professional composer? How awesome is that?

Teaflax. I listened to it a couple times, pretty good I could totally visualize that playing during an intro with still frames of characters and such.

Thank you, Kenjin. I've made also a 70s style logo (which has been added to the tune on Soundcloud now). I'll try to put together a Youtube clip tonight, if I have the time.

That's pretty good, Teaflax. A lot more mysterious-sounding the ripoff theme - I can totally see it as a theme for a space detective show.

Thanks, aninspector. I deliberately tried to fuse John Barry (that's the twang guitar and drums) with Barry Gray (that's the string-led melody and the tambourine), since they pretty much ruled the Sci Fi and agent soundtrack world at that time. And that's where the "composerĀ“s" name comes from: John Barry Gray. If I get some more positive comments, I will make a longer version and some incidental musical interludes during the week. I don't want to step on any toes, though. I'd already completed the track when I found this place through Google, and if the community (heh) here decides that someone else's song is the canonical IS theme, I'm fine with that. This was fun to make, and quite challenging in many ways. Also, please check out the t-shirts I made with the old-style logo: inspectorspacetime.spreadshirt.com/

I was working on my own opening sequence when I found this forum. For the theme I am using a part of the music from the 1965 film Dr. Who and the Daleks. The piece is called The Ecclectic Dr. Who. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKuwsPsUj_8I was looking for something with both a 60ish feel and a connection to Doctor Who without being the DW theme.

So just as a note: Any potential openings that don't get used as the "official" opening can definitely be utilized as "in show" themes. Like character songs or action themes. After all DW has a looot of music to parody.

After all DW has a looot of music to parody. I fully support this. I can organize the musical side of things if we set up a subforum for the soundtrack or something.

I was looking for something with both a 60ish feel and a connection to Doctor Who without being the DW theme. Very nice find, but be careful about borrowing too liberally. You don't want to be shut down by the copyright police. Even if your inspiration may well fall under fair use, it's a thorny business. My 80s version of my theme is being transcoded on Soundcloud right now. I'll post the link as soon as it's up.

And here it is: soundcloud.com/teaflax/inspector-spacetime-main-themeIt's sort of a sub-Mike Post boom-chak sequencer-heavy cheese fest with sound effects. I'm also working on the original 1962 version (Hammond organ, bongos, jazz guitar, shuffled swing feel) and the 1975 single (funky studio player disco groove - more Lalo Schifrin than any of the other versions).

I like the beat and the way the synthesizer sounds. *bobbing head*

I can't help but feel most of those words you made up just now. It's good though.
